Redescription

Note: Ixodes fossulatus is known from a single specimen described without figures in Neumann (1899) . The same specimen is figured and redescribed in Nuttall and Warburton (1911), who note differences with the original account. Clifford et al. (1973) doubt the validity of Ixodes fossulatus , although we include it as valid here. The Japanese (Palearctic) record of Ixodes fossulatus is a misidentification ( Yamaguti et al. 1971).
