An Afrotropical species whose females and the undescribed larva and nymph have been found on Macroscelidea : Macroscelididae (provisional diagnosis of nymphs and larvae); females alone have been collected from Rodentia : Muridae , and Soricomorpha : Soricidae . There are no records of Ixodes elongatus causing human parasitism.
