A Neotropical species, all of whose known parasitic stages are usually found on Didelphimorphia : Didelphidae , but immature stages are also commonly collected from Rodentia : Cricetidae . Nymphs alone have been recovered from Rodentia : Muridae , while larvae alone have been recorded from Rodentia : Echimyidae . There are no records of Ixodes amarali causing human parasitism.
