An Afrotropical, Australasian and Oriental species, all of whose parasitic stages have been found on Chiroptera : Molossidae , Pteropodidae and Vespertilionidae . There are no records of Ixodes kopsteini causing human parasitism.
M: Oudemans (1925), under the name Eschatocephalus ropsteini , a lapsus emended in Oudemans (1926), and given its current status in Schulze (1935b)
