Qunaxella triasetosa View in CoL sp. nov.

( Fig. 4–5 View FIGURE 4 View FIGURE 5 )

Diagnosis. This species is recognised by the setae c1, d1, e1 and f1 being finely setose; by the smooth setae h1; the presence of 3 setae on telofemur IV instead of 2 setae.

Tritonymph ( Fig. 4–5 View FIGURE 4 View FIGURE 5 ). (1 specimen measured). Dimensions. Idiosoma: length 220 and width 155.

Dorsum ( Fig. 4A View FIGURE 4 ). Propodosomal plate is provided with broken striae, with two pairs of finely setose. sensillae, vi 80 and sce 90, as well as finely setose setae ve 26 and sci 30. The hysterosomal plate is not defined. Hysterosomal setae are c1 25, c2 10, d1 25, e1 22, f1 25, h1 10 and h2 10; of these c1, d1, e1, f1 finely setose and c2, h1 and h2 smooth.

Venter ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ). Coxal plates demarcated by the presence of broken striae. One pair of propodogastral setae and 2 pairs of hysterogastral setae. Paracoxal setae on faint coxal IV re gion. The genital valves are clear. One pair of paragenital setae and four pairs of genital setae in straight longitudinal row. Two pairs of genital papillae.

Gnathosoma ( Fig.4E–G View FIGURE 4 ). Hypostome 75 long with 4 pairs of hg -setae [hg1, 10; hg2, 12; hg3, 13; hg4, 8] and two pairs of adoral setae. The hg4 seta is on the coxal region. Three-jointed palp 48 long. Trochanter without seta; femorogenu, 6 sts; tibiotarsus, 5 sts, 1 asl terminal. Chelicera 70 long and cheliceral setae lacking.

Legs ( Fig. 5A–D View FIGURE 5 ). Length of legs: I 150, II 137, III 162, IV 160; length of tarsi: I 80, II 52, III 50, IV 48. The leg chaetotaxy is as follows: coxae I—IV, 3 sts— 2 sts— 3 sts— 2sts; trochanters I—IV, 1 sts— 1 sts— 2 sts— 1— sts; basifemora I—IV, 3 sts—4 sts—2 sts—0 sts; telofemora I—IV, 4 sts—4 sts—3 sts—3 sts; genua I—IV, 3 asl, 1 bsl, 5 sts—1 asl, 5 sts—1 asl, 5 sts—1 asl, 5 sts; tibiae I—IV, 1 asl, 5 sts—1 bsl, 5 sts—1 bsl, 5 sts—1 lts, 4 sts; tarsi I—IV, 4 bsl, 1 dtsl, 1 dep plus pe organ, 2 tsl, 17 sts—1 bsl, 1 dtsl, 1 tsl, 16 sts— 1 ks, 1 tsl, 13 sts—1ks, 11 sts.

Remarks. Although based only on the tritonymph this new species was erected due the presence of a distinguishable morphological character, viz., the presence of 3 setae on telofemur IV.

Type material. Holotype tritonymph, from leaf litter of Bactris setosa Mart. (Arecaceae) , 11.VII.2000, Pariquera-Açu, A. R. Oliveira. Paratype. 1 tritonymph, from Sebastiania sp. (Euphorbiaceae) , 19.IV.1998, M.S. Zacarias deposited in the “Museu de Zoologia Luiz de Queiroz” at Escola Superior de Agricultura “Luiz de Queiroz”, Universidade de São Paulo, Piracicaba, State of São Paulo, Brazil.

Etymology. The species designation refers to the presence of three (tria -) setae on telofemur IV.
