Neorhinotora diversa ( Giglio-Tos 1893)

Neorhinotora diversa ; Papavero 1967: 2 (catalog); J. McAlpine 1987: 989 –992, Figs. 92.1–8 (illustrations of habitus, head, wing, scutellum, male and female terminaliae).

The holotype of N. diversa may be deposited in the Museo Zoologico di Torino (Turin, Italy), but it was not located, nor was any other specimen of this species.

N. diversa resembles N. fonsecai in possessing supernumerary veins on cell r1 ( Fig. 1 e); these species can be distinguished by branched supernumerary veins of N. fonsecai (unbranched in N. diversa ). On the other hand, comparison of illustrations of N. diversa from J. McAlpine (1987: 92.1–8, habitus, head, scutellum, male and female terminaliae) with specimens of other species of Neorhinotora indicates that this species is more similar to N. amapaensis , N. aristalis , and N. mutica than to N. fonsecai .

Geographic distribution. MEXICO: Veracruz-Llave (Tuxpango). USA: Arizona, New Mexico. Type locality: “ Mexico ”.
