Hendelia phrenzinae . Lonsdale & Marshall 2007: 147 [unjustified emendation].

Diagnosis. Body length 3.2–3.3mm. Bristles brown and vibrissa narrow. Posterior fronto-orbital highly reduced to absent. Head yellow (paler below antenna) with ocellar tubercle brown. Scutum with long medial stripe, either attenuating anteriorly or reaching anterior margin, and sometimes narrowed to entirely divided at midpoint. Scutellum brown. Pleuron sometimes with thin subnotal stripe. Legs yellow with hind tibiae brown basally and fore tarsi sometimes with distal three tarsomeres brownish in Costa Rican material. Wing with thin anterodistal infuscation and with large, faint to distinct spot in and around cells br and dm. Posteromedial bristles on male sternite 5 surrounding desclerotized region stout; epandrium with long, narrow anterodistal process; surstylus without thin setae on inner surface. Spermatheca relatively small, much shorter than wide, and with minute transverse wrinkles and subbasal pits.

Distribution. Costa Rica, northern Venezuela.
