Genus Nicidion Kinberg, 1865

Type species Nicidion cincta Kinberg, 1865

Remarks. The primary diagnostic characters for Nicidion are compound bidentate falcigers and dark and bidentate subacicular hooks with darkest shade closest to the distal end. The latter character is not unique to branchiate species of the genus; however, this character combined with branchial number (maximum four) is considered unique in branchiate Nicidion ( Zanol et al. 2014) . Moreover, colour patterns (i.e., the presence of one to three white segments) in life on anterior of the worm are also considered useful for depicting Nicidion from other eunicids ( Zanol et al. 2014). The currently accepted species belonging to the genus are: Nicidion amoureuxi (Rullier, 1974) , Nicidion angeli ( Carrera-Parra & Salazar-Vallejo, 1998) , Nicidion cariboea (Grube, 1856) , N. cincta ; Nicidion insularis ( Nogueira et al. 2001) , Nicidion hentscheli (Augener, 1931) , Nicidion mikeli (Carrera-Parra & Salazar- Vallejo, 1998), Nicidion mutilata (Webster 1884) , Nicidion notata (Treadwell, 1921) , and Nicidion samoae (Hartmann-Schröder, 1965) ( Zanol et al. 2014) . The present study adds one more species to the genus.
