Macrocheilus taedatus Basilewsky, 1960 View in CoL
Figs. 11d, e View FIGURE 11 , 12c View FIGURE 12 , 14c View FIGURE 14
Studied material. 1 female: “ Tanzania, 10/16.XII.99\near Mitundo, Dodoma prov. \ Werner & Lizler leg.” \\ “Collection\ Th. Assmann \ Bleckede, CAB” (yellow label)\\ “ Macrocheilus \ taedatus Bas. [h]\ det. Th. Assmann, 2008” [t] \\ “ Macrocheilus \ taedatus \ Basilewsky, 1960 ” [h]\ A. Serrano det. 2021” [t] [h].
Remarks. The species is distributed throughout Central and Oriental Africa ( Basilewsky 1960; Häckel & Farkač 2013). The female specimen of Tanzania fits the original description of the species, allowing the description of the genitalia for the first time.
Male genitalia. Drawings of median lobe in lateral and dorsal views and left paramere were provided by Basilewsky (1960, Figs. 2b, e View FIGURE 2 ). Taking into account these drawings the median lobe is slightly arcuate in the ventral edge, straight near apex (lateral view), not constricted between basal bulb and shaft, apical margin acuminated (dorsal view), presenting also a pair of large sclerotized stripes dorsally in the middle of the apical ostium.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 14c View FIGURE 14 ). Gonocoxite 1 subtriangular; gonocoxite 2 slender sickle shaped, apex sharp; dorsal surface slightly concave, covered with few minor setae, outer margin with 4 sub marginal setae and 2 marginal setae, apical half of inner margin with 6–7 setae, longitudinal median rib extending from apex to basal area without setae; ventral surface slightly convex, smooth.
Distribution. Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Republic of Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda.
