Macrocheilus scapularis (Reiche, 1843) View in CoL
Figs. 11a View FIGURE 11 , 12a View FIGURE 12 , 13b View FIGURE 13
Studied material. 1 male: “nº 2805, Congo Belge, P. N.G., II/fe/18,\ Réc. H. de Saeger, 24.XI.1951 \ Miss. H. de Sager ” ( MRAC) ; 1 female: “nº 2873, Zaire: P.N.G., II/gd/10,\ H. de Saeger, 6.XII.1951 \ abords marécageaux” ( MRAC) .
Remarks. The species has a scattered distribution throughout Central and Oriental Africa ( Basilewsky 1960, 1962; Häckel & Farkač 2013). Both MRAC adult specimens were determined by P. Basilewsky. The loan of a MRAC adult male specimen allows the description of the male genitalia for the first time.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 13b View FIGURE 13 ). Median lobe bossed and slightly dilated in the median region, constricted between basal bulb and shaft, apical margin rounded (dorsal and lateral views), apex downward (lateral view), ostium with one pair of asymmetric lateral thin and extensive scaled sclerotized stripes on dorsum, bending laterally downwards and backwards; left paramere longer than wide, without distal tooth.
Distribution. Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Senegal.
