Figs. 11b, c View FIGURE 11 , 12b View FIGURE 12 , 13c View FIGURE 13
Studied material. 1 male: “ Zaire: Lubumbashi\ 1.III.1975 \ W. Beun (don A. Allaer)” ( MRAC); 1 male: “ Tanzania, 9/ 13.XII.1997 \ near Songea, Ruvuma Prov. \ leg. Werner & Lizler” \\ “Collection\ Th. Assmann\ Bleckede, CAB” (yellow label)\\ “ Macrocheilus \ spectangus Périn.” [h] \ det. Th. Assmann, 2006” [t]\\ “ Macrocheilus \ spectandus \ Péringuey, 1904 ” [h]\ A. Serrano det. 2021” [t] [h].
Remarks. The species was originally described from Southern Rhodesia (Umtali, nowadays Zimbabwe) ( Fig. 11b View FIGURE 11 ) and is distributed throughout Central and Oriental Africa ( Basilewsky 1962; Häckel & Farkač 2013). The MRAC adult male specimen examined was determined by P. Basilewsky. In 1992, we also observed adult specimens from Zimbabwe and Republic of Rwanda deposited in MRAC. Macrocheilus spectandus is recorded for Rwanda and Tanzania for the first time.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 13c View FIGURE 13 ). A brief description and drawings of median lobe in lateral and dorsal views and left paramere were provided by Serrano (2000, Figs. 9 View FIGURE 9 , 10 View FIGURE 10 ). Contrarily to the other Macrocheilus species the median lobe apex is slightly upward, presenting also a pair of large laterally scaled sclerotized stripes, bending laterally downwards and backwards.
Distribution. Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
