( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 26 – 30 )

Trypanidius irroratus Monné & Delfino, 1980: 320 , fig. 2; Monné, 2005: 145.

Male. Dark brown integument, black on ventral surface. Body covered with grayish-brown pubescence, except for gray-whitish pubescence on basal third of antennomeres 4–7 and on first half of antennomeres 3 and 7–10, a longitudinal band on each side of middle of pronotum, a longitudinal band at base of elytra, in an oblique band extending from humerus to anterior third of suture, on a spot covering posterior third of elytra with little tufts of white pubescence on anterior margin, on femora, in a ring on base and middle of tibiae and on ventral surface mixed with grayish-yellow pubescence; dark brown pubescence in two longitudinal bands (often divided in two spots, one anterior and another posterior) adjacent to gray-whitish pubescence on pronotum, in spot extending from center to posterior margin of pronotum, on the lateral margins of scutellum, in a spot between elytral crest and suture, in central spot on median region of elytra and in tufts of erect setae along elytral carinae; yellowish pubescence covering the head and in tufts of erect setae on elytral carinae which alternate with those of dark brown pubescence.

Frons flat, lower eye lobes as long as genae, and two or more erect setae at inner margin. Antennae with scape 1.3 times longer than antennomere 3.

Prothorax 1.7 times wider than long; pronotal disc with two elevated ridges converging anteriorly with postmedian elevation between them. Scutellum with longitudinal, central, glabrous band extending to truncate apex. Prosternal process three times narrower than procoxal cavity; mesosternal process 1.4 times narrower than mesocoxal cavity.

Elytra 3.5 times longer than prothorax, center-basal crest near suture and longitudinal carinae distinct; humeri strongly projected anteriorly; obliquely truncate at apex.

Measurements (mm). (Male/Female). Total length: 14.7/15.1; prothorax length: 2.8/3; prothorax width: 4.7/5; elytral length: 11/11; humeral width: 6.8/7.1.

Type locality. Venezuela, Aragua: Rancho Grande (FAUV).

Geographical distribution. Venezuela, Colombia.

Comments. In addition to the characters mentioned in the key, Trypanidius irroratus can be distinguished from other species of this genus by the grayish-brown elytral pubescence with two gray-whitish bands, one longitudinal at the base of the elytra and another oblique, extending from the humerus to anterior third of the suture, with a spot covering the posterior third of the elytra with little tufts of white pubescence in the anterior margin, dark brown spots between the elytral crest and the suture and in the centro-median region and with tufts of erect dark brown and yellowish setae which alternate along the carinae.
