Pulex (Juxtapulex) echidnophagoides ( Wagner, 1933)

Material examined— Yucatan, Peto, Pechil, Dasypus novemcinctus Linnaeus , 5.VII.1991, H. Piña, 2 males, 2 females.

Remarks—This species has been reported from Costa Rica (type locality) ( Wagner 1933), Campeche, Quintana Roo, and Yucatan, Mexico ( Eckerlin 2005), and Panama ( Barrera 1955; Tipton & Méndez 1961, 1966). It is rarely collected on known marsupial and edentate hosts below 5000 feet elevation ( Tipton & Méndez 1961, 1966). This species does not represent a new record for the State of Yucatan but so few records have been documented in the literature that this record is of value.
