Differential Diagnosis. The dorsal setae arising from the general punctation separate this species from all others in the region except the Mexican O. vestitus , which possesses dorsal punctation of multiple sizes and pale pronotal anterolateral margins.

Description. Size and Form. Total Length=3.0– 3.5mm. EL/EW=1.07. Oval, slightly convex. Elytra slightly longer than wide. Color. Dorsum black; each elytron with 3–4 iridescent bronze patches. Maxillary and labial palpi yellow. Mentum and stipes yellow to, lighter than venter of head. Pronotum entirely black, without pale spots anterolaterally. Sternum, ventrites, epipleura and pseudoepipleura yellow to light brown. Legs yellow, with femora slightly darkened basally and along anterior edge. Head. Labrum and clypeus with general fine punctation, distance between punctures 1.5–2.5x width of one puncture. Maxillary palpi ¾ width of labrum; segments 2 and 3 subequal with apical segment slightly longer. Labial palpi almost equal to length of mentum; apical two segments subequal in length. Scape subequal in length as segments 2–5, segment 2 subequal or longer in length than segments 3–5, segments 3 and 4 subequal in length, apical segment at least 1.5x longer then penultimate segment. Labrum with 2–3 setiferous systematic punctures centrally; anterior margin straight, not sinuate. Clypeus with 4–6 setiferous systematic punctures along anterior margin. Frons with irregular row of setiferous systematic punctures mesad of each eye; top of head with impressed setiferous punctures 2– 3 x larger than and mixed with general punctation. Mentum quadrate, anterior margin slightly convex and with small indentation anteromedially; with several setiferous punctures on anterior half. Thorax. Pronotal and elytral punctation of pronotum composed of very fine, nearly obsolete punctation and distinctly larger punctures bearing erect or recumbent long setae; larger setiferous punctures sparser on pronotal disc. Lateral margins of pronotum and elytra with row of punctures bearing long yellow seta, appearing as a yellow fringe. Systematic punctures of pronotum obscured by other setiferous punctures. Posterolateral corners of pronotum rounded. Band of irregular punctures bearing erect setae present along elytral suture; these punctures slightly smaller than other setiferous elytral punctures. Sutural punctation of elytra composed of irregular row of fine punctures bearing usually erect setae. First row of punctures on elytra composed of clusters of setiferous punctures anteriorly, bearing erect setae, forming a single row of setiferous punctures in posterior half. Second row of punctures composed of series of two aggregated setiferous punctures anteriorly. Prosternum carinate medially, without spines or long setae anteromedially. Mesosternal process 1.5x longer than wide, bearing 3–5 long setae at apex of process. Metasternum with oval glabrous area posteromedially, about as long as wide; less than half the total length of metasternum. Procoxae densely pubescent, without spines. Protibiae with 9–11 spines on dorsal face. Protarsal segments 1–4 small, subequal in length; segment 5 as long as segments 1–4. Hind femora glabrous. Abdomen. Ventrites sparsely pubescent; setae usually suberect; longer than longest setae around margin of metasternal glabrous area. Fifth exposed ventrite entire. Aedeagus ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 24 – 27 ) with ventral sides of parameres narrowly but distinctly wider than dorsal sides; tips curved inward and slightly pointed on inner margin. Tip of median lobe bifid, rising to nearly the apex of the parameres. Basal piece narrowed and rounded basally.

Distribution. Costa Rica, Panamá.

Etymology. Named in honor of David Sharp, who first described the genus.
