Brachymeria Westwood, 1829 View in CoL View at ENA
Brachymeria is a large genus with 308 described species worldwide (Noyes 2017), including many parasitoids of Lepidoptera , some of which are important pests on various cultivated plants. For example B. ceratoniae Delvare was recently described from Iran as a parasitoid of Apomyelois ceratoniae (Zeller) ( Lepidoptera : Pyralidae ), an economically important pest of the carob tree, Ceratonia siliqua L. (Delvare et al. 2011). Some Brachymeria , especially in the minuta species group, are obligatory secondary parasitoids via other Hymenoptera or Diptera (Burks 1960; Delvare & Huchet 2017).
