Python molurus View in CoL — Gray, 1849: 89.— Davison, 1892: 88.

Remarks. Gray (1849) reported a stuffed specimen of P. molurus at NHMUK (BMNH IV.2.2.i or j). The records of P. molurus in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore are believed to be of released specimens by snake charmers ( Flower 1899; Smith 1930). Davison (1892) stated that P. molurus may occur in Singapore since “it has occurred in the Malayan Peninsula, and has certainly been found in Java”. Nonetheless, P. molurus is distributed from Pakistan to Nepal, India, and Sri Lanka (Wallach et al. 2014). Certainly, Davison (1892) is referring to P. bivittatus , when he says P. molurus occurs in Java, which does not range into Peninsular Malaysia or Singapore (Wallach et al. 2014).

LKCNHM & NHMUK Museum specimens. Singapore (no locality): BMNH IV.2.2.i or j (no date).

Additional Singapore museum specimens. No specimens.
