Epitarsipus rufithorax Le Cerf, 1922 View in CoL comb. rev.

Figs 17–19 View FIGURES 13–24

Lectotype: ♀, Madagascar, Brickaville [Ampasimanolotra], 1917 ( MNHN).

Additional material examined: 1♂, 1♀, Madagascar, Reg. sud de l'Ile, Bekily, Sept. [19]33 ( MNHN) ; 1♀, S/W Madagascar, 27km N Tollara , 7m, dry forest near Ifaty, 9.- 13.11.2003, leg. Oelke ( SMNS) .

Epitarsipus rufithorax View in CoL was described on the basis of a male and a female from Brickaville [Ampasimanolotra] ( Le Cerf 1922). Viette (1982) designated the male as the lectotype and the female as a paralectotype. He concluded that the female, which is considerably different, belonged to another species, M. biedermanni View in CoL (see M. rufescens View in CoL below). This conclusion was based on the examination of a short series of both sexes of E. rufithorax View in CoL from “Reg. sud de l'Ile, Bekily” collected in Sept. 1933, which clearly showed that there is no relevant dimorphism between the sexes.
