DISTRIBUTION. This species was known from south-western part of Mongolia (GoviAltai Aimag, mountain pass, about 2500 m) (Loksa, 1978). Here species is reported from
Khovd and Bayan-Ölgii Aimags in the Mongolian part of Altai for the first time.
NOTES. In Govi-Altai Aimag this species inhabits the steppe and desert steppe (Ulykpan,
1988), while studied specimens were collected in the mountain stony tundra and steppe with rocks.
Thus, three species of lithobiid centipedes are recorded here from the Mongolian part of Altai. Lithobius giganteus is widespread in Mongolia; L. sibiricus is new for Western Mongolia, and Schizotergitius altajicus is reported from Khovd and Bayan-Ölgii Aimags for the first time.
