Material examined.
Holotype: male, Indonesia, Sulawesi Utara, Manado , 20-21.xi.1985, leg. R. Ent. Soc. Lond., Project Wallace, B.M. 1985-10, genit. prep.3393 M. Fibiger. Coll. BMNH.
Diagnosis.
Wingspan: 11 mm.
Forewing: narrow, reddish brown.
Transverse lines: brown; terminal line marked by black dots between veins.
Reniform: narrow, distinct, whitish grey, outlined by black.
Hindwing: unicolorous brown with an indistinct black discal spot.
Underside: unicolorous brown.
Male genitalia.
Tegumen: narrow.
Vinculum: short, stout.
Saccus: U-shaped, short.
Fultura superior: Y-shaped with long narrow asymmetrical arms; medially fused with tegumen and ventrally with juxta-anellus.
Valve: shorter than wide.
Ampulla: long, club-like, broadest subapically; densely setose with long hair-like setae bent inwards.
Pollex : relatively short, broadest medially, tapered towards tip; densely setose with long hair-like setae bent inwards.
Digitus: moderately long, tapered, bent, directed ventrally, apically pointed.
Juxta-anellus plate: round, slightly higher than wide.
Phallus: short, bent at ductus ejaculatorius and at 3/4, slightly tapered towards apex; coecum short and broad. Vesica: with a large, strongly bent, spine-like cornutus.
Differential diagnosis.
P. utarai differs from the other species by the relatively short pollex, which is broadest medially, and the strongly bent cornutus.
