Body color pale. Dorsal setae long with roundly expanded apex ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 1–15 ). Head setae D1 inserted anteriorly to setae D4 ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 1–15 ). Antennal segment III with setae about 2/3 shorter than the length of the segment ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1–15 ). Pronotum with no sclerotized blotch. Abdominal tergite II with a pair of spiracles; segment X with six anal setae with expanded apex, shorter and slender than other body setae, about 1/3 shorter than length of the segment. This species resembles P. dracaenae , but can be distinguished by the characters in the key. Larvae have been collected from banana crops, on which the species is considered a pest ( Lima et al. 2020), in the states of São Paulo and Santa Catarina, Brazil .
