Hierodula patellifera ( Audinet-Serville, 1838) View in CoL View at ENA
This species is known only from Christmas Island in Australia but is widespread and common throughout Southeast Asia and the Pacific. The Christmas Island population was originally described as H. dispar Kirby, 1900 and subsequently synonymised with H. patellifera by Beier (1935), however there are considerable differences between the populations and a re-investigation of the synonymy is warranted (C.-T. Hsu pers. comm.).
