CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Platystoma gemmationis View in CoL ( Soós 1984b: 41, Belcari et al. 1995b: 7).

REMARKS: Rondani (1869a: 35) described Megaglossa gemmationis without specifying the number, the sex or the length of the specimens. We found five syntypes in this study. An additional three specimens in the MZUF numbered “1626” are not included in the type series because their labels are yellowish rather than the greenish color of Rondani’s original handwritten ones and are in a lower row in the Box. We treat them to be subsequent additions .
