Sapromyza luteiventris Rondani, 1868 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1868c: 235 (key), 240 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agri parmensis planitie et collibus [ Parmese plains and hills ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♂♂, syntypes (one missing left wing) ( MZUF: Box 29): Sapromyza Fall. / luteiventris Rndn. , ♂ / 1550; 2 ♀♀, syntypes ( MZUF: Box 29): Sapromyza Fall. / luteiventris Rndn. , ♀ / 1550; 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUF: Box 29): Sapromyza Fall. / luteiventris Rndn. , ♀ / [illegible label] / 1550; 2 specimens, syntypes (sex not determinable, one missing abdomen, both fore legs and left mid- and hind legs, thorax partially eaten by dermestids; one very moldy) ( OUMNH Verrall-Collin coll.: Box 16): Type / S. luteiventris Ex. Coll. Big. / S. luteiventris ♀, Europe, Rondani / Sapromyza Fll.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Minettia flaviventris (Costa, 1844) View in CoL ( Papp 1984a: 200, Nartshuk et al. 1995: 5).
REMARKS: Rondani (1868c: 240) described Sapromyza luteiventris without specifying the number, the sex or the length of the specimens, but presumably from more than one specimen because he reported: “ non infrequens [not rare]”. Seven syntypes were found in this study. An additional five males and one female in the MZUF numbered “1550” are not included in the type series because their labels are yellowish rather than the greenish color of Rondani’s original handwritten ones and are in a lower row in the Box, for which reason we treat them to be subsequent additions .
