TYPE LOCALITY: “ in planitie et collibus agri parmensis [ Parmese plains and hills ( Italy)]” .

CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 137, Pape et al. 1995: 17, Cerretti 2010: 106; O’Hara et al. 2020: 388).

REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 179) described both sexes of Chetogena filipalpis without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths: “ mas frequenter, foemina rarius legitur [the male found frequently, the female more rarely]”. We found eight syntypes in this study.
