CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Chamaesyrphus scaevoides ( Fallén, 1817) ( Peck 1988: 95) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1865a: 135) proposed Pelecocera schinerii for Pelecocera scaevoides ( Fallén, 1817) sensu Schiner (1860: 315) , which he considered a new species. Rondani referred to Schiner’s redescription of Pelecocera scaevoides from an unspecified number of specimens collected by Egger, so the type material of Pelecocera schinerii Rondani should be in either Schiner’s or Egger’s collection. In Egger’s collection (NHMW) we found 13 males and ten females labeled as Pelecocera scaevoides , which we consider as syntypes of Pelecocera schinerii Rondani, 1865 .
