Type material. VIETNAM, Vinh Phuc Province: Holotype female from Tam Dao District [22.77°N, 104.94°E], 130 m. ( CBEE, LJ20210628007 ). GoogleMaps
Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin adjective artus, - a, - um, meaning “narrow”, referring to the IDS in ventral view thinner than in most other congeners; adjective.
Diagnosis. The female of P. arta Zhang, Jäger & Liu , spec. nov. is similar to that of P. tiantangensis Quan et al., 2014 ( Quan et al. 2014) by the similar shape of the EF, but can be distinguished by: 1) Sclerotised parts of copulatory ducts forming a wide inverted “V” with an angle larger than 90°, and a distinctly visible turn; 2) Lateral parts of anterior margins of LL latero-anteriad (sclerotised parts of copulatory ducts forming a right-angled inverted “V”, without a distinctly visible turn; lateral parts of anterior margins of LL laterad in P. tiantangensis ).
FEMALE (LJ20210628007): Measurements: Medium sized. Body length 11.7, DS length 5.6, width 4.8, OS length 6.1, width 3.8. Eyes: AME 0.21, ALE 0.37, PME 0.28, PLE 0.33, AME–AME 0.17, AME–ALE 0.11, PME–PME 0.23, PME–PLE 0.41, AME–PME 0.32, ALE–PLE 0.25, CH AME 0.45, CH ALE 0.37. Spination: Pp 131, 101, 2101, 1014; Fe I–III 323, IV 322; Pa I–IV 101; Ti I–IV 2126; Mt I–II 2024, III 3025, IV 3037. Measurements of palps and legs: Pp 7.6 (2.2, 1.1, 1.6, –, 2.7); I 19.5 (5.7, 2.1, 5.4, 4.8, 1.5); II 23.2 (6.3, 2.5, 6.7, 5.8, 1.9); III 16.2 (5.2, 1.7, 4.3, 3.9, 1.1); IV 18.5 (5.9, 1.4, 4.4, 5.1, 1.7). Leg formula: II-I-IV-III. Cheliceral furrow with ca. 17 denticles.
Epigyne ( Figs 18A–C View FIGURE 18 ): As in diagnosis. EF longer than wide, with indistinct AB. Anterior margins of EF trilobate. LL touching each other along the median line. FW well developed, covering together with LL the entire IDS.
Colouration ( Figs 19A–B View FIGURE 19 ): DS light reddish brown with dark dots. Fovea distinctly and broadly marked. OS dorsally brown with a transverse yellow line at posterior part. OS ventrally yellow with a longitudinal dark region, margins with dark irregularly arranged spots.
MALE: Unknown.
