Type material. THAILAND, Chiang Mai Province: Holotype female from Doi Inthanon National Park

[18.59°N, 98.48°E], 1750 m, 1 May 2000 , P. Dankittipakul leg. ( MHNG, THI0002 ). Paratypes: 1 female, with same data as for holotype ( SMF, THI0003 ); 1 female, Huay Nam Dang National Park , degraded evergreen forest [19.63°N, 99.02°E] GoogleMaps , 1000 m, 10 August 2006, P. Dankittipakul leg. ( MHNG, THI0001 ) .

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the type locality, the Chiang Mai Province; adjective.

Diagnosis. The female of P. chiangmaiensis Zhang, Jäger & Liu , spec.nov. is similar to that of P. parvipunctata by having similar wound lateral loops of IDS, but can be distinguished by: 1) Lateral loops of IDS with two twists; 2) Lateral margin of FW convex; 3) Angle between anterior margins of LL acute, about 30° (Lateral loops of IDS with one twist, lateral margins of FW concave medially, and angle between anterior margins of LL about 60° in P. parvipunctata ).

FEMALE (THI0002): Measurements: Medium sized. Body length 14.1–14.8, DS length 6.1, width 5.2, OS length 8.4, width 6.5. Eyes: AME 0.21, ALE 0.34, PME 0.26, PLE 0.32, AME–AME 0.22, AME–ALE 0.14, PME–PME 0.27, PME–PLE 0.49, AME–PME 0.39, ALE–PLE 0.33, CH AME 0.51, CH ALE 0.42. Spination: Pp 131, 001, 2121, 1004; Fe I–II 323, III 322, IV 331; Pa I–IV 101; Ti I–IV 2026; Mt I–II 2024, III 3024, IV 3036. Measurements of palps and legs: Pp 7.6 (2.1, 1.2, 1.6, –, 2.7); I 21.1 (6.1, 2.3, 5.8, 5.1, 1.8); II 24.1 (6.7, 2.8, 7.0, 5.6, 2.0); III 17.9 (5.3, 1.9, 4.8, 4.4, 1.5); IV 20.2 (6.5, 1.4, 5.1, 5.3, 1.9). Leg formula: II-I-IV-III. Cheliceral furrow with ca. 23 denticles.

Epigyne ( Figs48A–C View FIGURE 48 ):As in diagnosis.EF wider than long, with long, but indistinct AB. Anterior margins of LL forming a ‘V’. LL touching each other only medially. IDS consisting of partly wide tubes, clearly visible in dorsal and ventral view.

Colouration ( Figs 49A–B View FIGURE 49 ): DS reddish brown with dark spots, margin with dark marks. Fovea distinctly marked. OS dorsally with yellow marks, ventrally with several brown marks, irregularly arranged.

MALE: Unknown.

Distribution. Thailand (Chiang Mai Province).
