Type material. CHINA, Chongqing Municipality: Holotype female from Beibei District, Jinyun Mountain Nature Reserve, Fanjiagou , 29.83°N, 106.39°E, 637 m, 13 July 2008, G. Wei, R. Zuo & Z. Liu leg. Paratypes: 1 female, with same data as for holotype ( SWUC, SWUC0006 ) GoogleMaps ; 1 female, Beibei District, Jinyun Mountain Nature Reserve, Banzigou , 29.85°N, 106.36°E, 243 m, 16 April 2008, Z. Etymology. The specific name is derived from the type locality, the Beibei District; adjective.
Diagnosis. The female of P. beibeiensis Zhang, Jäger & Liu , spec. nov. resembles that of P. hingstoni Jäger, 2001 (Jäger 2001) by having a similar arrangement and orientation of FW, but can be distinguished by: 1) Anterior median septum with laterally concave sclerotised part and roundish membranous “windows”; 2) FW and FD straight and parallel to each another (anterior median septum with laterally strongly convex sclerotised part and slit-like membranous “windows”; FW and FD bent or curved and not parallel to each another in P. hingstoni ).
FEMALE (SWUC0001): Measurements: Medium sized. Body length 10.8–11.4, DS length 5.4, width 4.6, OS length 5.8, width 4.6. Eyes: AME 0.14, ALE 0.25, PME 0.19, PLE 0.21, AME–AME 0.14, AME–ALE 0.07, PME–PME 0.23, PME–PLE 0.32, AME–PME 0.29, ALE–PLE 0.26, CH AME 0.35, CH ALE 0.28. Spination: Pp 131, 101, 2121, 1014; Fe I–II 323, III–IV 322; Pa I–III 101, IV 100; Ti I–II 2228, III–IV 2126; Mt I–II 2024, III 3025, IV 3036. Measurements of palps and legs: Pp 5.1 (1.4, 0.7, 1.0, –, 2.0); I 11.7 (3.4, 1.4, 3.1, 2.7, 1.1); II 14.7 (3.9, 1.6, 4.3, 3.5, 1.4); III 10.5 (3.1, 1.2, 2.7, 2.5, 1.0); IV 12.1 (3.7, 0.9, 2.9, 3.3, 1.3). Leg formula: II-IV-I-III. Cheliceral furrow with ca. 17 denticles.
Epigyne ( Figs 31A–C View FIGURE 31 ): As in diagnosis. EF wider than long, AB absent. Anterior margins of LL almost parallel to posterior, somewhat heart-shaped. FW of IDS freely visible, S situated ventrally. FD long and narrow, suited medially.
Colouration ( Figs 32A–B View FIGURE 32 ): DS yellow with dark spots, margin with a few marks. Sternum and ventral coxae with few dots. Fovea and striae distinctly marked and with several dark marks. OS dorsally with irregular reddish pattern. OS ventrally with reddish brown spots, irregularly arranged, and with triangular patch in front of spinnerets.
MALE: Unknown.
