Allorhopaliella boliviana View in CoL sp. nov.

( Figs. 1–3 View FIGURES 1 – 4. 1 – 3 )

Description. Integument dark-brown. Head black, except for: antennal tubercles, clypeus and labrum mostly orangish; frons centrally reddish-brown, laterally orangish; ventral side laterally black, followed by brown band, and centrally orangish; mandibles orangish with distal third margined with dark-brown; palpi orangish, with some brownish areas. Distal antennomeres brown; scape, pedicel, antennomere III, and scutellum blackish. Prothorax blackish, except for wide, orangish band on each side of pronotum, interconnected with wide band of same color on lateral and ventral anterior third. Elytra pale yellowish, except for lateral brown band on anterior quarter.

Head. Frons somewhat smooth, almost glabrous between clypeus and base of antennal tubercles, finely, moderately abundantly punctate, with short, yellowish setae (not obliterating integument) between antennal tubercles. Clypeus with setae denser than on frons. Antennal tubercles finely punctate, with short, sparse, yellowish setae, except for narrow, smooth, glabrous apical band. Vertex finely, densely punctate; with short, sparse, yellowish setae (centrally sparser), and one very long seta on each side, close to apex of upper eye lobes. Area behind upper eye lobes with sculpture and setae as on lateral portion of vertex; area behind lower eye lobes finely striate-punctate, with short, yellowish setae close to eye, smoother, glabrous towards anterior margin of prothorax. Gena with short, sparse, yellowish setae. Gula smooth, laterally with some very long, yellowish setae close to submentum. Submentum with short, sparse, yellowish setae, interspersed with long, sparse setae (mainly laterally). Mandibles laterally with short, sparse, yellowish setae, interspersed with long, sparse setae. Distance between upper eye lobes equal to 0.55 times length of scape; distance between lower eye lobes, in frontal view, equal to 1.10 times length of scape. Antennae as long as 1.7 times elytral length; reaching elytral apex at distal quarter of antennomere IX; ventral side of basal antennomeres with long, sparse setae; antennal formula based on antennomere III: scape = 0.65; pedicel = 0.17; IV = 0.67; V = 0.80; VI = 0.90; VII = 0.98; VIII = 0.82; IX = 0.80; X = 0.67; XI = 0.82.

Thorax. Pronotum moderately finely, shallowly, abundantly punctate; with short, yellow setae, very sparse centrally, laterally distinctly more abundant after middle of orangish area. Lateral sides of prothorax with sculpture similar to that of pronotum up to about posterior level of central tubercle, distinctly sparsely punctate towards ventral side; with well-marked band of short, yellowish-white setae, from lateral pubescence of pronotum, involving central tubercle, but not reaching base of prothorax; under anterolateral tubercle of pronotum, between lateral tubercle and band with short setae, with sub-rounded, sub-glabrous area; area between inferior side of central tubercle and ventral side of prothorax, with short, sparse setae. Prosternum finely, sparsely punctate; with short, sparse setae. Metepisterna pubescent.

Metasternum pubescent, interspersed with long, sparse setae. Elytra. Moderately coarsely, abundant punctate throughout; very finely, abundantly pubescent. Legs. Femora pubescent, with long, very sparse setae. Tibiae with long, white setae.

Abdomen. Urosternites pubescent on basal two-thirds, interspersed with long, sparse setae, shiny, glabrous or with very sparse setae on distal third.

Dimensions in mm (female). Total length, 7.10; length of prothorax at center, 1.15; largest width of prothorax, 1.30; anterior width of prothorax, 0.95; posterior width of prothorax, 1.00; humeral width, 1.50; elytral length, 4.95.

Type material. Holotype female from BOLIVIA, Cochabamba: Pampa Grande (16º41’25”S / 66º28’50”W; 1150–2550 m), 07–09.IX.2001, A. C. Hamel L. & A. Pascall col. ( USNM).

Etymology. Allusive to the country of the type locality.
