Eustenogaster palavanica Reyes, 1988 View in CoL

Eustenogaster palavanica Reyes, 1988: 387 View in CoL , 392, figs. 25–29.

This species is similar to E. calyptodoma , but is easily distinguished from the latter by the following characters: in the female, larger than E. calyptodoma [length of head + mesosoma + first two terga 16.5–17.5 mm]; extreme apex of clypeus pointed; clypeus and supraclypeal area less hairy; sixth metasomal tergum with wide flat area in front of tubercle (similar to E. fumipennis , Fig. 28 View FIGURES 26 – 31 ); in the male, volsella strongly produced ventrally.

Color of female: Body black, with following parts yellow: three longitudinal bands on clypeus ( Fig. 58 View FIGURE 58 ), paired spots above and below antennal sockets, paired narrow bands along posterodorsal margin of pronotum, ending before reaching tegula, paired small spots on scutellum, anteromedian transverse band on metanotum, small scrobal spot (sometimes absent) and inverted L-shape large spot below it on mesepisternum, anterolateral and posterolateral spots on propodeum, anterior margin of second tergum, paired spots on third and fourth sterna, anterior bands on third to fifth terga; first metasomal tergum posteroventrally dark brown. Legs dark brown; lateral side of fore- and mid-tibiae, lateral spot on hind coxa, yellow.

Marking pattern of the male is similar to that of the female of E. calyptodoma , but the spot on the gena is absent, and the spots in the eye emargination and on the legs are reduced in size.
