Magnoculus McDermott, 1964 View in CoL ( Figure 3 B View Figure 3 )

Magnoculus View in CoL is unique among the firefly genera of the Serra dos Órgãos in having elevated costae in the elytron. Other distinguishing features are a flabellated antenna shorter than half body length; the presence of distinct tentorial pits (a character shared with some Amydetes View in CoL , the cuban-endemic Cheguevaria Kazantsev, 2006 View in CoL , and other elateroidea, e.g. the phengodids (cf. Jeng 2008)), and the relatively deep and wide punctures (wider than intertissue) of the pronotum and elytron. Magnoculus spp. can have either big eyes and lanterns, or small eyes and no lantern at all ( Constantin 2011). Females and immature stages unknown.
