Diagnosis
Similar to A. atratus . Brick red, lateral margin of elytron dark brown, weakly explanate. Male anal sclerite with lateral apical margin straight and convergent, acute ( Fig 7 View FIGURE 7. A. A G), angle more obtuse than A. sordidus ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7. A. A F), angle similar to A. atratus ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7. A. A L). Pygidium as in A. atratus . Length 5.3mm, Width 2.4mm.
Lectotype 1 ɗ, glued to card, card labeled: " Orthostolus kauaiensis ɗ. Kauai Mts., Wai,-mea, 4000 ft., V–1894, Perkins, Type H.S.", underside of card labeled "257" / " Type H.T." / "Mts. Waimea, Kauai, 4,000 ft., Perkins V 1894." / "Sandwich Is., 1912–215" (BMNH).
