Key to Colochela , Colochelyna and Neocolochelyna
1 Anal cell in forewing with a long and suberect cross vein at about middle; occipital carina present; mandibles asymmetric, left mandible bidentate, right mandible simple or with an indistinct inner tooth; penis valve narrow and simple, without distinct lateral lobe or hook; wings strongly yellowish; claw with inner tooth much longer than outer tooth; lancet very narrow, more or less sclerotized; clypeus narrow and long, about 1.3–1.4 times as broad as long; anterior-lateral lobe of pronotum (before transversal furrow) with fine but distinct marginal or submarginal carina; head small, about 0.7 times as broad as thorax. [Cell 2Rs in forewing much longer than 1R1+1Rs]........................................... Colochelyna (3 known species)
- Anal cell in forewing with a very short cross vein at basal 0.25 or without cross vein; occipital carina absent; mandibles subsymmetric bidentate or tridentate; penis valve with distinct lateral or dorsal lobe or hook; wings blackly infuscate, or claw with inner tooth shorter than outer tooth and lancet not very narrow and not sclerotized; clypeus about 1.9–2 times as broad as long; anterior-lateral lobe of pronotum (before transversal furrow) without marginal or submarginal carina; head about 0.9 times as broad as thorax....................................................................................... 2
2 Wings strongly infuscate, almost blackish, without longitudinal shade along anterior margin; forewing with cell 2Rs much longer than 1R1+1Rs together; basal third of anal cell strongly constricted, distance between veins 1A and 2A+3A about as broad as 1A at same position, with or without cross vein; mandibles bidentate; lancet distinctly sclerotized; basal and middle serrula without distinct subbasal tooth, apical serrulae sometimes with a few subbasal teeth; penis valve without dorsal hook but with a ventral apical lobe, or apical margin broadly rolling up laterally; body largely or entirely black, at most mesonotum red; antenna longer than thorax; palpi of mouthparts normal, hardly reduced; cerci slender, about 2–4.5 times as long as broad; distance between antennal sockets broader than distance between antennal socket and inner margin of eye at same level; setae on sheath long and strongly curved; claw quite large, inner tooth much longer than outer tooth..... Colochela (3 known species)
- Wings brown, with distinct longitudinal shade along anterior margin; forewing with cell 2Rs shorter than 1R1+1Rs together; basal third of anal cell weakly constricted, distance between veins 1A and 2A+3A at least 2 times as broad as 1A at same position, without anal cross vein; mandibles tridentate with a small third tooth; lancet not sclerotized, serrulae each with many minute subbasal teeth; penis valve with a long dorsal hook, apical margin not rolling up laterally; body yellow brown or ferruginous with black maculae; antenna not longer than thorax; palpi of mouthparts much reduced; cerci very short, about as long as broad; distance between antennal sockets clearly shorter than distance between antennal socket and inner margin of eye at same level; setae on sheath short and straight; claw small with inner tooth shorter than outer tooth in subgenus Curvatapenis, or small or medium-sized with inner tooth longer and stronger than outer tooth in nominal subgenus.................................................................................................... Neocolochelyna (6 species)
