Etymology. In honour to Dr C. van Achterberg.

Type material. HOLOTYPE, ” ( RMNH): Surinam: Kabalebo River , Avanavero- Falls, 5–12 April 1971 (D. C. Geijskes, Malaise trap).

Holotype, ”, length of body 5.6 mm, of fore wing 4.8 mm.

Head. Antenna with 52 segments, 1.5 times longer than fore wing, length of third segment 1.5 times fourth, length of third, fourth, penultimate and apical segments 4.5, 3.0, 3.0 and 4.0 times their maximal widths, respectively; maxillary palp 1.5 times height of head; length of malar space 1.5 times basal width of mandible; length of eyes in dorsal view three times temple; temple narrowing posteriorly immediately behind eye, coriaceous and weakly striate dorsally; OOL: diameter of ocellus: POL~2.5:2.0:1.5; frons smooth medially; vertex convex, striate laterally, flattened near stemmaticum; face convex, punctate; clypeus convex and punctate; occipital flange rounded.

Mesosoma. Mesosoma 1.4 times longer than maximally high; side of pronotum smooth posteriorly near tegula, medially crenulate and remainder smooth; mesopleuron sparsely finely punctate; precoxal sulcus complete and distinctly crenulate; metapleuron smooth and shiny; mesoscutum sparsely punctate, strongly depressed posteriorly at junction of notauli; scutellum smooth; scutellar sulcus with small carina posteriorly; surface of propodeum with coarse irregular rugae, smooth laterally; mid-longitudinal carina of propodeum present anteriorly; metapleural flange angulate.

Wings. Fore wing: r: SR1z3-SR~9: 38; 2-SR:r-m~10:6; second submarginal cell weakly petiolate; subbasal cell glabrous anteriorly; vein 3-CU1 as long as vein CU1b. Hind wing: 2-M coloured; membrane largely glabrous basally.

Legs. Hind coxa with several coarse rugae from base to apex dorsally; length of hind femur, tibia and basitarsus 5.1, 8.8 and 7.0 times their maximal widths, respectively; tibial spurs 0.54 and 0.4 times basitarsus; hind tibia with five apical teeth.

Metasoma. First tergite 3.1 times longer than apically wide, shiny and finely coriaceous; spiracles protruding; second tergite smooth and shiny; T2 1.3 times longer than T3; second suture smooth, straight; ovipositor sheath 0.15 times fore wing length.

Colour. Brownish yellow. First tergite (except apically), T2–T4 apically, dorsolateral patch on hind coxa, hind femur dorso-apically, hind tibia except medially, hind tibial spurs, hind basitarsus basally, telotarsus, mesoscutum, tegula, vertex, outer stripe on scapus, upper part of temple, apical patch (half of marginal cell) of fore wing blackish; antennal segments, remainder of scapus dark brownish; humeral plate, scapus dorsally, mid tibia, mid tarsus, hind trochantellus brownish; rest of hind tarsus yellowish.

Holotype, ”, length of body 8 mm, of fore wing 7.4 mm.

Head. Antenna incomplete, remaining antennal segments 50 (missing left antenna), length of antenna 1.43 times fore wing, length of third segment 1.25 times fourth, length of third and fourth segments 3.3 and 2.7 times their maximal widths, respectively; eyes glabrous; length of eye in dorsal view 2.5 times temple; temple punctate, directly narrowed posteriorly; OOL: diameter of ocellus: POL~ 5.0:2.0:2.0; frons smooth; vertex convex, flattened near stemmaticum; face weakly convex in lateral view; clypeus weakly convex in lateral view, punctate; maxillary palp 1.2 times height of head; malar suture present; occipital flange ventrally and posteriorly.

Mesosoma. Length of mesosoma 1.44 times its maximal height; side of pronotum weakly coriaceous ventrally, coarsely punctate medially, and remainder smooth; mesopleuron smooth, sparsely punctate; precoxal sulcus complete crenulate; metapleuron punctate; notauli punctate; scutellar sulcus with longitudinal carinae; scutellum convex and punctate; propodeum medially convex in lateral view, smooth; metapleural flange reduced and acute.

Wings. Fore wing: r: SR1z3-SR~7:24; 2-SR: r-m~4.0:3.0; second submarginal cell subsessile; subbasal cell glabrous anteriorly; 3-CU1 3.0 times longer than CU1b. Hind wing: 2-M coloured; membrane largely glabrous basally.

Legs. Hind coxa punctate with few rugae dorso-apically; hind femur coarsely punctate; lengths of hind femur, tibia and basitarsus 6.0, 9.0 and 7.7 times their widths, respectively; tibial spurs 0.47 and 0.37 times basitarsus; hind tibia with six apical teeth.

Metasoma. First tergite rectangular and strongly angled before spiracles, 2.7 times longer than apically wide, smooth and shiny, flattened in lateral view; spiracles not protruding; second tergite weakly punctate-coriaceous; T 2 1.33 times longer than T 3; second suture smooth, weakly curved; ovipositor sheath less than 0.6 times fore wing length.

Colour. Blackish brown. Antennal segments 19–29, basal half of hind tibia, hind tarsus (base of basitarsus and telotarsus except) pale yellowish; face, scapus ventrally, fore leg (coxa and telotarsus except), mid coxa, mid trochanter, mid femur, mid tibia (except apically), basal quarter of T 1, T 1 medially (apical third except), fine band between metasomal sutures. Triangular area on T 2 basally, irregular band on propodeum posteriorly, mid-longitudinal stripe on propodeum, metanotum, sternites and epipleura (except the 2nd), hind trochanter and trochantellus, penultimate mid tarsus yellowish; fore coxa, scapus dorsally, hind femur (all sides), remainder of T 1 and other tergites dark reddish/brownish;

remainder of metasoma, apical half of hind tibia, telotarsus blackish; mid tibia apically and mid tarsi apically infuscate.

Variation. Mid coxa sometimes yellowish to dark reddish; number of pale yellowish antennal segment varies between five and 12.
