( figures 131 View FIGS , 140 View FIGS )

Microtypus caudatus Granger, 1949: 365 ; Shenefelt, 1970: 265 [examined].

Stantonia caudatus ( Granger, 1949) : Capek and van Achterberg, 1992: 326.

Type material. HOLOTYPE, ” ( MHNP): Madagascar: Bekily, reg. sud de l’Ile — Muséum Paris, July 1936 —46—type . PARATYPES ( MHNP): Madagascar: Rogez : ”, Forêt côte est—Museum Paris, January [19]31 (A. Seyrig)—42. Bekily: „, reg. sud de l’Ile, July 1936 —„ 38; „, March 1930 (A. Seyrig)—„ 40 .

Holotype, ”, length of body 5.2 mm, of fore wing 3.8 mm.

Head. Antenna with 42 segments, length of antenna 1.9 times fore wing; length of third segment 1.1 times fourth, length of third, fourth and penultimate segments 4.5, 4 and 1 times their maximal width, flagellomeres with two ranks of placodes; length of eye in dorsal view 2.5 times temple; temple directly narrowed posteriorly, punctate dorsally shiny, coriaceous ventrally; OOL: diameter of ocellus: POL~ 3.0:1.0:2.0; frons punctate laterally; vertex convex, punctate, flattened near stemmaticum; face flattened, punctate with long setae; clypeus flattened in lateral view ( figure 140 View FIGS ), punctate, its ventral margin straight in frontal view; length of malar space 1.3 times basal width of mandible; malar suture absent; occipital flange angled ventrally and posteriorly.

Mesosoma ( figure 131 View FIGS ). Length of mesosoma 1.3 times its maximal height; side of pronotum basally coriaceous, medially rugose and remainder smooth; mesopleuron sparsely punctate, smooth and shiny; precoxal sulcus distinctly, not reaching anterior margin of mesopleuron; metapleuron sparsely punctate, smooth and shiny; scutellar sulcus narrow with small carinae; scutellum with punctures; surface of propodeum convex in lateral view, with some weak transverse rugae, surface weakly coriaceous with sparse punctures; metapleural flange rounded.

Wings. Fore wing: r: SR1z3-SR~8:40; 2-SR: r-m~10:7; second submarginal cell weakly petiolate; subbasal cell glabrous anteriorly; vein 3-CU1 3.5 times longer than vein CU1b. Hind wing: 2-M coloured; membrane largely glabrous basally.

Legs. Hind coxa coriaceous without rugae, except apically; lengths of hind femur, tibia and basitarsus 5.0, 10.0 and 11.0 times their widths, respectively; tibial spurs 0.48 and 0.36 times basitarsus; hind femur densely punctate; hind tibia with six apical teeth.

Metasoma. First tergite 2.75 times longer than apically wide, coriaceous and sparsely punctate, flattened apically in lateral view; spiracles strongly protruding; second tergite coriaceous and sparsely punctate; T 2 1.28 times longer than T 3; second suture smooth, straight; ovipositor sheath 1.6 times fore wing length.

Colour. Yellowish. Outer stripe on scapus dark brown; antenna apically, hind tarsus infuscate; ovipositor sheath, patches on T 1, T 2 and T 3 blackish; wing membrane hyaline.
