Prohyptiasmus magnus ( Johnston, 1917) — Type and only species
Type host. Black swan, Cygnus atratus (Latham) (Syn. Chenopsis atratus Latham ) ( Anseriformes : Anatidae ).
Type locality. Victoria, Australia.
Additional host. Greylag goose, Anser anser (Linnaeus) ( Anseriformes : Anatidae ).
Additional locality. Astrakhan Nature Reserve, Russian Federation.
Remarks. This species was originally described as Hyptiasmus magnus Johnston, 1917 . Stossichium magnum ( Johnston, 1917) has been considered to be a synonym of P. magnus , and P. magnus a synonym of Cyclocoelum arcuatum ( Brandes, 1892) (= Hyptiasmus arcuatus [ Brandes, 1892 of Stossich, 1902]) by Joyeux & Baer (1927). It was considered to be a synonym of Prohyptiasmus robustus ( Stossich, 1902) (= Cyclocoelum robustum Stossich, 1902 ) by Bashkirova (1950). This is the only species currently assigned to this genus and therefore it may stand as a replacement type species for P. robustus (= Cyclocoelum robustum ). No oral or ventral sucker described— Johnston (1917).
