Distribution. Brazil (Espírito Santo *: Venda Nova do Imigrante).
Material examined. Brazil: Espírito Santo: 1♂, Venda Nova do Imigrante , INCAPER ( FEVNI), Col. D. Martins & Luciano S.F.F., 18-26/VII/2016 .
Remarks. Most species of the genus occur in Canada and North America. Only the species Clivinema regalissimilis Carvalho, 1953 is represented in the Neotropical Region, with a distribution in southern Mexico (Oaxaca) (Carvalho 1953C; Ferreira 1998). This is the first report of the genus in the Southern Hemisphere ( Brazil, state of Espírito Santo). Despite efforts to gather further specimens we were unsuccessful. Our one male represents the first record of the genus Clivinema in South America. However, to properly identity the species, a taxonomic review of the genus is required.
