Tribe Oligaphorurini Bagnall, 1949
Remarks: A generic subdivision of this tribe is still under intensive discussion. Christiansen & Bellinger (1980), as well as Fjellberg (1987), treated all Nearctic species of the tribe as representatives of the genus Onychiurus , subgenus Archaphorura . The genera erected by Bagnall (1949) for these species, i.e. Archaphorura , Micraphorura , Oligaphorura and Dimorphaphorura , are widely considered valid ( Weiner 1996; Pomorski 1996, 1998; Weiner & Kaprus’ 2014, etc.). Nevertheless, some uncertainty about the limits of these genera still existed. As Babenko & Fjellberg (2015, p. 72) wrote, “the present generic framework for Oligaphorurini is probably unique, difficult to use and hardly reflecting real relationships. There is great temptation to return to a single genus Archaphorura as Christiansen & Bellinger (1980, 1998) and Fjellberg (1987) had done”. The incorporation of almost all previously recognized genera of the tribe into a single genus, Oligaphorura , was recently proposed by Paśnik & Weiner (2017) and accepted on www. collembola .org. We follow this recent modification.
