Remarks: This species prefers “seashore habitats with rich algal growth” ( Fjellberg 1998, p. 52) in the Palaearctic but appears to inhabit both shore and inland communities in Nearctic, for instance “forest and meadow litter” of Alaska ( Fjellberg 1985, p. 56). These differences in habitat preference are unusual and raise some doubts about the identity of this species.
General distribution: Holarctic.
