FOSSIL COLLEMBOLA
Apart from extant collembolan species listed above, several fossil forms have been described from Canadian Cretaceous amber ( Folsom 1937a; Christiansen & Pike, 2002, 2002a). Two of them, Protentomobrya walkeri Folsom, 1937 (the only extinct species mentioned by Skidmore (1995)) and Oncobrya decepta Christiansen & Pike, 2002, belong to extinct families: Protentomobryidae Folsom, 1937 , and Oncobryidae Christiansen & Pike, 2002 , respectively. The others represent extinct genera of modern collembolan families or superfamilies, Bellingeria cornua Christiansen & Pike, 2002 ( Brachystomellidae ), Protoisotoma micromucra Christiansen & Pike, 2002 ( Isotomidae ), Pseudoxenylla fovealis Christiansen & Pike, 2002 ( Neanuroidea ), Entomocerus mirus Christiansen & Pike, 2002 ( Tomoceridae ), Brevimucronus anomalus Christiansen & Pike, 2002 (Sminthuridoidea) and Keratopygos megalos Christiansen & Pike, 2002 ( Sminthuridoidea ).
