Remarks: Hammer (1953) recorded this species based on “many young individuals in many different biotopes”. Christiansen & Bellinger (1981, p. 1117) believed that “Nearctic records [of the species] probably = quadrimaculatus ”.
General distribution: reliable modern records are restricted to the Palaearctic (Europe, Greenland, and Chukotka).
