Remarks: Practically all of the above Canadian records appear to be erroneous. Christiansen & Bellinger (1980, p. 711) wrote there are “no valid Nearctic records” of D. violacea . Synonymization of violacea with inupikella ( Fjellberg 2007) slightly modified this statement. Now the known distributional range of the species encompasses Alaska and northern Palaearctic westward to Kolguev Island in the Barents Sea ( Babenko et al. 2017).
General distribution: Western Nearctic and Eastern Palaearctic.
No known copyright restrictions apply. See Agosti, D., Egloff, W., 2009. Taxonomic information exchange and copyright: the Plazi approach. BMC Research Notes 2009, 2:53 for further explanation.
