Atrichozancla gymnopalpa Janse, 1963

Atrichozancla gymnopalpa Janse, 1963: 246 . TL: Zimbabwe. [TMSA].

Adult ( Fig. 3A ). See Janse (1963, Pl. 134, Fig. e). Wingspan 16 – 17 mm.

Diagnosis. The pale orange-yellow ground color of the forewing and the 2 nd segment of labial palpus with long, spreading yellowish hairs above are distinct characters which separate this species from both A. cosymbota and A. phaeocrossis Meyrick. Labial palpus given in Janse (1963, Pl. 162, Fig. 4 ).

Male genitalia ( Figs. 4A, B ). The male genitalia are similar to those of A. cosymbota , but the cucullus is nearly parallel-sided distally, whereas it is narrowed apically in A. cosymbota (see also Janse (1960, Pl. 108- line drawing; Pl. 127, Fig. g- photo). The male genitalia of a paratype in the TMSA are illustrated in Figs. 4A, B .

Female genitalia. See Janse (1960, Pl. 108 (corpus bursae); Pl. 127, Fig. h- photo).

Material examined. Types no. 4425, ♂ (lectotype, designated here), Zimbabwe, iv.1954, A.J.T. Janse, deposited in TMSA ( Fig. 3A ). Paralectotypes: 2♂, types no. 4447 & 4475 (gen. slide no. 2997 & 8347); 1♂, type 4430, Zimbabwe, 6-10 iv 1934, A.J.T. Janse; det. label A. gymnopalpa Janse , gen. slide no. CIS-7206/Park.

Distribution. Zimbabwe (Janse 1963).

Remarks. The species was described, based on 6 males and 18 females collected in April by A.J.T. Janse.
