Diagnosis. Male hind femur with small apical swelling with several short black spines ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 2 – 9 ); apical 4/5 of fore tibia with rows of yellowish and spiniform setae; tergites VI and VII with shiny silvery tomentum ( Figs. 32, 33 View FIGURES 30 – 33 ); epandrium with long macrosetae ventrally, apex claw shape ( Figs. 36–38 View FIGURES 34 – 41 ); subepandrial sclerite with two lobes laterally covered by tuft of small setae ( Fig. 39 View FIGURES 34 – 41 ); apex of gonostyle triangular, external region with a median keel and inner region of with spines ( Figs. 40, 41 View FIGURES 34 – 41 ).
Description. Male. Holotype. Head ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 10 – 15 ). Antenna black, with black setae; vertex and ocellar tubercle black, golden tomentose; ocellar tubercle with 5 brown, long, proclinate ocellar setae; face and frons black, golden tomentose; lower facial margin silvery tomentose; mystacal macrosetae black and white; occiput golden tomentose; occipital setae black; postocular setae black; palpus brown with brown setae; proboscis black; labial setae yellowish. Thorax ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 10 – 15 ). Antepronotum and postpronotum brown and golden tomentose; mesonotum brown tomentose with black paramedian stripe divided longitudinally by ocher tomentum; postsutural spots brown tomentose; mesonotum brown tomentose laterally, except anepimeron, katatergite and anatergite brown and grey tomentose; scutellum brown, silvery tomentose; pleuron brown tomentose, except anepimeron, katatergite and anatergite brown, silvery tomentose. Chaetotaxy: acrostichal setae black; 2 notopleural; 2 supra-alar, and 1postalar macroseta brown; black dorsocentral postsutural setae; no apical scutellar macrosetae; 1 short, brown, discal scutellar seta; no anatergal setae; katatergal setae whitish; posterior meron + metanepisternum with brown tuft of small setae on posterior margin. Wing ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 10 – 15 ). Hyaline; veins brown; no costal dilatation; R4 and R5 bifurcation beyond level of discal cell apex; crossvein r-m placed slightly beyond middle level of discal cell; microtrichia on posterior margin arranged in a single plane; pale yellow halter. Legs ( Figs. 2 View FIGURES 2 – 9 , 10 View FIGURES 10 – 15 ). Fore and mid femur black anteriorly, reddish brown posteriorly; hind femur wholly black; fore and mid tibiae with basal 3/4 reddish brown and apical 1/4 black; hind tibia with basal 1/2 reddish yellow and apical 1/2 black anteriorly; fore and mid tarsi brown and hind tarsus dark brown ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 10 – 15 ). Chaetotaxy: fore femur with black setae ventrally; mid femur with 3– 4 macrosetae anteriorly; hind femur with 1 black basal anterior macroseta, 1 black apical macroseta anteroventrally, 1 black preapical dorsoanterior and 1 black preapical dorsoposterior macroseta; hind femur with swelling on the ventral surface apically with several short black spines ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 2 – 9 ); apical 4/5 of fore tibia with rows of yellowish and spiniform setae; fore tibia with 1 basal black seta dorsally. Apical 3/4 of fore tibia with black setae with yellow reflex anteriorly; mid tibia with 2 black setae and 3 yellow setae posteriorly; hind tibia with 1 basal black seta and 1 apical black seta dorsally; tarsomeres with black setae with yellow reflex anteriorly; empodium and pulvillus light brown; basal 1/4 of claws light brown and apical 3/4 black. Abdomen ( Figs. 10, 11 View FIGURES 10 – 15 ). Brown, silvery tomentose with yellow setae; tergite II with 5–6 yellow macrosetae laterolapically; tergite III with 4–5 yellow macrosetae laterolapically. Tergites VI and VII with shining silvery tomentum ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 10 – 15 ). Apex of sternite VIII rounded with long macrosetae ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 10 – 15 ). Terminalia ( Figs. 14–20 View FIGURES 10 – 15 View FIGURES 16 – 20 ). Black. Epandrium with long macrosetae ventrally, apical 1/3 narrow, apex claw shape ( Figs. 14–16 View FIGURES 10 – 15 View FIGURES 16 – 20 ); hypandrium narrow, with long setae laterally, medioapical region with concavity ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 10 – 15 ); subepandrial sclerite with two lobes laterally covered by tuft of small setae ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 16 – 20 ); apex of subepandrial sclerite rounded ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 16 – 20 ); gonocoxite upward curved, apex pointed, apical 1/ 4 surrounded by diminute spines ( Figs. 18, 19 View FIGURES 16 – 20 ); apex of gonostyle triangular, external region with a median keel and inner region with spines ( Figs. 18, 19 View FIGURES 16 – 20 ); aedeagus with two prongs ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 16 – 20 ); ejaculatory apodeme wide in lateral view ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 16 – 20 ).
Lengths. Body: 14.5 mm; wing: 11.1 mm.
Holotype condition. Good. Detached wing mounted on microslides, terminalia placed in microvial with glycerin and pinned along with the specimen.
Variation. Ocellar tubercle with 2–5 black, long, proclinate ocellar setae; scutellum with erect setae; hind femur with 3 black anterior macrosetae; hind tibia with basal 2/3 reddish yellow and apical 1/3 black anteriorly.
Female ( Figs. 21–23 View FIGURES 21 – 23 ). Similar to male, except for body length: 16 mm; wing 12.1 mm; frons and pleuron brown tomentose; katatergal setae yellowish; halter stem light brown, capitulum reddish brown; hind femur with 3 black basal macrosetae anterior; hind femur without swelling; mid tibia with 2 black short setae; abdomen brown, silvery tomentose; tergites II–IV triangular, brown spot dorsally. Terminalia. Two oval sclerotized spermathecal capsules. Tergite VIII broadly expanded laterally ( Figs. 22, 23 View FIGURES 21 – 23 ); tergite IX+X membranous medially ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 21 – 23 ); median sclerite at posterior end of furca (remnant of tergite IX) absent.
Etymology. sagta , a noun in apposition, which means "the beautiful" in Aymara language, refers to Salta, Argentina, type locality of the species.
Comments. C. sagta sp. nov. differ from other Ctenodontina species by the characters presented in the identification key and the combined characters of the terminalia, mainly the epandrium apex claw shape and gonocoxite upward curved, apex pointed.
