Type material: holotype ɗ labelled ‘Menard Tex. / 15–24–VII–1929 ’; ‘E. C. Cushing / Collector’; ‘ Type No. / 43867 / U.S. N.M.’; ‘ Sarcophaga / semimarginalis Hall’ ( USNM). Paratype ɗ, same data as holotype except 11–21.vii.1930, Parish collector (not examined).

Other material examined: USA: Arizona: Graham Co., Cyclone Hill, 3.3 mi w. on Hwy. 366 from Hwy. 191, ca. 4000', 23.viii.1993 (3ɗ, CNC); Texas: Big Bend N.P., Santa Elena can., 5.v.1959, 2100' (3ɗ, CNC); Jeff Davis Co., Davis Mts St. Pk., 25.viii.1968 (10ɗ, GD); same data except 23.viii.1968 (1ɗ, GD); Bexar Co., 29.ix.1936 (1ɗ, CNC); Presidio Co., 11.vii.1929 (1ɗ, 1Ψ, CNC); MEXICO: Nuevo Leon: Monterrey, 20.x.1953 (1ɗ, FSCA); Mamulique Pass 2km., NE on microwave rd., 17–18.vi.1982, 2000', dry wash (1ɗ, GD).

Description (male): body length 9.0–12.0 mm.

Head: 8–11 pairs of medioclinate frontal setae. Genal setae black, postgena mostly white-haired, black setae restricted to posterior part of postgena.

Thorax: proanepisternum bare.

Wing: dark hairs on lateral margin of alula as long as those on anterior margin of anal lobe. Hairs fringing calypters creamy-white.

Legs: hind tibia with long, wavy posteroventral hairs.

Abdomen: tergite 5 same color as other abdominal tergites or with pale brown or orange-yellow margin on apical half or third, with a marginal row of strong setae, sometimes two middle (dorsal) ones slightly anterior to the others.

Terminalia: cerci and syntergosternite 7+8 same color as epandrium. Surstylus without a small posteroventral projection. Window on sternite 5 almost even with rest of base. Pregonite usually without pointed lateral extension, weak if present.Vesica as in Figs. 32, 34 View FIGURES 32 – 35 . Juxta with two deep invaginations in posterior view ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 32 – 35 ).

Female: body length 10.0 mm.

Terminalia ( Fig. 39 View FIGURES 36 – 39 ): tergite 6 with moderately strong setae on each side evenly spaced and about equal in size. Tergite 7 present. Tergite 8 vestigial. Sternite 6 with 9 moderately strong setae on posterior margin. Sternite 7 desclerotized on middle part, with 7 weak setae on posterior margin.
