Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition, taken from the Tupi Indian language, that means waterfall and refers to the Iguaçu Waterfalls, one of the natural wonders of the world, located in the type locality of the species' holotype.

Diagnosis. The males of Scytodes ytu n.sp. are distinguished from those of the remaining Neotropical Scytodes by the retrolateral-ventral, triangular projection of the distal area of the palpal bulb ( Fig. 126 ). The females resemble those of S. chapeco n.sp. by the large oval hyaline pockets and adjacent spermathecae ( Figs. 129 , 146 ) but are distinguished by the rounded spermathecae on thick stalks and rounded sclerotized areas in the hyaline pockets ( Fig. 129 ).

Description. Male (Holotype, IBSP 91987). Carapace orange with dark brown pattern, as shown on Fig. 124 . Chelicerae yellow with dorsal longitudinal brown stripe. Pedipalps orange. Palpal patellae with faint prolateral brown stain. Labium yellow, brown at base. Endites yellow. Sternum cream coloured with brown margins in front of each coxae. Legs yellow, except patella I brown. Femora I-IV with pair of ventral longitudinal brown stripes. Tibiae I-IV with brown ends. Abdomen gray with black pattern ( Fig. 124 ). Total length 3.9. Carapace domed, 2.0 long, 1.7 wide. Eye diameters: PME 0.14, ALE 0.14, PLE 0.14. Lateral eyes on a tubercle. Chelicerae with subapical hyaline keel and inconspicuous stridulatory ridges. Labium 0.14 long, 0.26 wide. Sternum 1.04 long, 0.86 wide. Leg measurements: I: femur 4.7, patella 0.6, tibia 5.1, metatarsus 6.2, tarsus 0.8, total 17.4; II: 3.3, 0.6, 3.4, 4.0, 0.6, 11.9; III: 2.2, 0.5, 2.0, 2.3, 0.6, 7.6; IV: 3.2, 0.6, 3.0, 3.3, 0.7, 10.8. Palpal femur with stridulatory pick short and stout on triangular and projected socket. Cymbium with strong distal spine and slender subdistal spine ( Fig. 125 ). Bulb 0.7, medially curved. Distal region concave with a prolateral sclerotized process ( Figs. 125, 127 ) and a retrolateral hyaline keel and ventral triangular projection ( Figs. 126–127 ). Abdomen 1.7 long, 1.1 wide, covered with slender hairs.

Female. (Paratype, MCN 8946). Coloration pattern as in male. Total length 4.7. Carapace domed, 2.3 long, 2.0 wide. Eye diameters: PME 0.14, ALE 0.14, PLE 0.14. Lateral eyes on a tubercle. Chelicerae as in male. Labium 0.16 long, 0.24 wide. Sternum 1.16 long, 0.90 wide. Leg measurements: I: femur 2.8, patella 0.5, tibia 3.1, metatarsus 3.7, tarsus 0.7, total 10.8; II: 2.4, 0.5, 2.2, 2.6, 0.6, 8.3; III: 1.7, 0.5, 1.3, 1.7, 0.5, 5.7; IV: 2.2, 0.5, 2.0, 2.3, 0.7, 7.7. Palpal femur as in male. Epigynum with very narrow positioning ridges, separated by half their width ( Fig. 128 ). Vulva with spermathecae on thick and short stalks, adjacent to hyaline pockets with rounded lateral sclerotized areas at base ( Fig. 129 ). Abdomen 2.4 long, 2.4 wide, as in male.

Variation. Seven males: total length 3.5–3.9; carapace 1.9–2.1; femur I 4.7–5.2; bulb 0.66–0.76. Ten females: total length 3.9–5.6; carapace 2.0–2.7; femur I 2.8–3.7.

Distribution. Atlantic Forest. States of Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.
