Type material. Adult male holotype from Nahal HaBesor Reserve, Western Negev, Israel, leg. Itai Opatovsky, December 14, 2006, pitfall trap ( HUJ 15555); female paratype from nearby surroundings of Be’eri, Israel, leg. Itai Opatovsky, January 23, 2007, pitfall trap ( HUJ 15554).
Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition referring to the area where the holotype was collected.
Description. Gnaphosids with delicate, yellowish body. Eyes, labium and legs as for genus. Chelicerae with 4 pro- and 3 retromarginal teeth in male, 5 pro- and 3 retromarginal teeth in female.
Male. Measurements (holotype): total length 3.2; carapace length 1.4, width 1.0, index 1.4; labial index 1.42; clypeal index 1.0; MOQ index 11.6; legs length: I 4.6, II 3.7, III 3.1, IV 4.9; patella-tibia index 1.28.
Palpus. Large thick blackish embolus extends nearly the entire length of bulb terminating apically with split tip; brown bulky apical apophysis ends with thick bent tip ( Figs 53, 54 View FIGURES 53, 54 ). Long straight tibial apophysis extends apically on ectal side more than half length of cymbium ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 53, 54 ).
Female. Measurements (paratype): total length 5.0; carapace length 2.0, width 1.5, index 1.3; labial index 1.66; clypeal index 1.43; MOQ index 10.0; legs length: I 5.6, II 4.9, III 4.4, IV 6.6; patella-tibia index 1.1.
Epigynum . Anterior dark yellow small hood opens towards fine median indentation ( Fig. 55 View FIGURES 55, 56 ); globular spermathecae extend into long straight parallel tubes with distended tips ( Fig. 56 View FIGURES 55, 56 ).
Diagnosis. The peculiar embolus and apical apophysis along with the elongate, straight tibial apophysis of the male palpus and, the epigynal plate of the female with the hood and median indentation and the peculiar spermathecal tubes are all diagnostic characters of Talanitoides habesor not possessed by any other gnaphosid.
Distribution. Israel, Western Negev, known only from the type locality.
