In North America occurs from Alaska, Yukon and Northwest Territory to Labrador south to New York, North Dakota, Alberta and Washington ( Krombein 1979, Finnamore 1997).

Remarks. J. Abenius (Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, Nynäshamn) kindly informed us (per. comm.) that males (genitalia of holotype have been examined by him) of Psammochares malaisei Nordström & Forsius 1930 belong to A. fumipennis (Zetterstedt 1838) while the females of malaisei belong to sogdiana -group. Unfortunately we have not seen the slide of male genitalia of P. malaisei and postponed the decision about the synonymy of this species.
