Cunaxa violaphila sp. nov.
Female ( Figs. 35 View FIGURES 35 – 40 –44 & 58).
Gnathosoma ( Figs. 35–38 View FIGURES 35 – 40 ). Chaetotaxy and structure of palps ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 35 – 40 ) and chelicerae ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 35 – 40 ) as in C. gordeevae sp. nov. Basi- and telofemur of palps with filiform dorsal setae, genu with incrassate dorsal setae. Apophysis of telofemur cone-like with dull apex, situated proximomedially on joint. Dorsally the hypognathal coxal region possesses an oval-shaped papillated area which joins with the broken striae of ventral surface of hypognathum ( Fig. 37 View FIGURES 35 – 40 ). Ventral surface of hypognathum as in Fig. 38 View FIGURES 35 – 40 .
–. Cunaxa violaphila , female. Genu, tibia and tarsus (without ambulakrum) of: leg I (); leg II (42); distal part of telofemora, genu, tibia and tarsus (without ambulakrum) of: leg III (43); leg IV (44). Scale-bar—50 μm.
Idiosomal dorsum ( Fig. 39 View FIGURES 35 – 40 & 58 View FIGURES 54 – 58 ). Chaetotaxy as in C. gordeevae sp. nov. Propodosomal plate mainly smooth, and only near the bases of setae vi and laterally to sce provided with some papillated regions. Also, the anterior region of the plate with faint striae ( Fig. 39 View FIGURES 35 – 40 ). Length of setae sci much longer than the half distance between their bases. Setae f1 and h1 distinctly setose. Relative length of dorsal hysterosomal setae: f1 = h1 ˃ c1 = d1 = e1 ˃ c2. The hysterosomal dorsum with thin, long striae without lobes and papillae ( Fig. 58 View FIGURES 54 – 58 ).
Idiosomal venter ( Fig. 40 View FIGURES 35 – 40 ). Striae of the idiosomal venter are long, thin and smooth. Chaetotaxy as in C. gordeevae sp. nov. Genital valves with longitudinal striae. Genital setae subequal in length. Distance between setae g2–g3 longer than distance g1–g2 and g3–g4.
Legs (Fig. 41–44). Leg chaetotaxy: coxae I–IV, 3 sts, 1 peg —1 sts —3 sts —2 sts; trochanters I–IV, 1—1—2—1 sts; basifemora I–IV, 4—4—3—0 sts; telofemora I–IV, 4 sts —4 sts —3 sts, 1 ms —3 sts, 1 ms; genua I–IV, {2 asl, 1 sts}, {2 asl}, 4 sts —2 asl, 5 sts —1 asl, 5 sts —1 asl, 5 sts; tibiae I–IV, {1 asl, 1 sts}, 1 bsl, 4 sts —1 bsl, 5 sts —1 bsl, 5 sts —1 T, 4 sts; tarsi I–IV, {1 bsl, 1 peo, 1 sts}, 3 bsl, 1 dtsl, 2 tsl, 21 sts —1 bsl, 1 dtsl, 1 tsl, 22(21) sts —1 tsl, 22(23) sts —19(20) sts. The surface of basifemora with transverse broken striae; that of other segments with elongate papillae which are dorsally longer and less dense than ventrally.
Measurements. Length of idiosoma 338 (338–408); width 225 (235–272). Length of hypognathum 131 (131–136); width 77 (77–83). Length of palps 185 (185–203). Length of chelicerae 118 (118–130). Length of legs: I 244 (239–253); II 228 (225–239); III 253 (249–267); IV 281 (272–295). Length of setae: hg1 17 (17–19); hg2 21 (21–25); hg3 34 (33–40); hg 4 20 (19–22); ve 12 (11–13); sci 32 (30–37); c1 34 (30–37); c2 28 (23–30); d1 32 (23–33); e1 31 (24–33); f1 55 (53–61); h1 54 (51–57); g 1–4 14–15 (13–17). Distance between setae: sci–sci 34 (35–39).
Remark. Number of simple setae on tarsi II–IV may vary between 22–21, 22–23 and 19–20 respectively.
Male and immatures unknown.
Etymology. The specific name violaphila (from Latin: viola = violet, and Hellenic: phila = to like) refers to the distribution of this new species on the leaves of violets.
Differential diagnosis. See differential diagnosis of Cunaxa yaylensis sp. nov.
Biology. In laboratory on leaves of violet Viola sp. C. violaphila could ambush in web on tetranychid mites, Tetranychus sp.
