Ampullaria occidentalis Mousson, 1888: 299 View in CoL , pl. 12, fig. 9. Type material — syntypes: SMF 50603 (1 spm.), ZMZ 525084 (1 spm.), ZMZ 525085 (1 spm.), ZMZ 525086 (2 spms.). Type locality —“bord méridonal du Kunene”, Sud-Ouest de l’Afrique” [southern border of Kunene, Namibia]. Distribution —western Zambia, northern Namibia, Okavango River system in Namibia and Botswana, southern Angola ( Haas 1936: 34; Connolly 1939: 554; Pain 1961: 23; Brown 1994: 54).
Remarks. Both Connolly (1912: 257, 1939: 554) and Pain (1961: 23) stated “ Type in Zurich Museum”; however, neither identified an actual specimen and therefore neither constitutes a lectotype designation (Code, Art. 74.5). Pila , teste Haas (1936: 34), Connolly (1939: 553), Pain (1961: 23) and Brown (1994: 54).
